Spring IS Coming!

Spring really is coming here in Calgary! Here is proof that spring is on the way! We keep getting snow, but I did find my hyacinths blooming! It is so nice to see some color in my flowerbeds! They are so bright and cheery!

I am teaching a card class on Thursday night. Here is one delightfully simple card that I designed. I did stamp the vellum with white ink before cutting out the butterflies - I think I'll tell the ladies to cut the butterflies first, as they can easier direct the placement of the designs. the paper used is Stampin' Up's "Walk in the Park" and I've used chunky pink glitter with crystal effects for the butterfly bodies. I also attached them to the card with another bit of crystal effects.

Here is the perfect card for Dad, using Stampin' Up's 'Sense of Time' stamp set, and 'To the Nines' specialty paper! I love the thickness of the specialty paper! I used a transparency sheet, stamped with Staz On ink for the smaller circle in the clock, to better define it).

Finally, here is our bunny Bits, during one of the many snowfalls we have had this past week! He wasn't too happy to be plopped into the snow, but he did pose nicely for me! I put him under a tree, and he dashed toward his hutch and tried to climb in!

Have a great day, all! Susan Bruyn

Spring Thoughts

It looked like spring yesterday; it looked like spring this morning; but it certainly doesn't look like spring right now. We are in the middle of a snowstorm and weather watch for Calgary and area (I know, I last posted after a snowstorm also).
I am thinking thoughts of spring, so I thought I would show some blocks that I made.

I love to create, so I made this set of blocks to remind myself of what I love to do! I taught these blocks as a class, and my friend Jenn brought the lovely accessories, so I could create a fun photo shoot with the blocks! I am teaching these blocks in a class here in my studio on May 15th.
Think Spring!! Think Spring!! The consolation about this snowfall is that the tulips are up about 4 inches, and I have hyacinths ready to bloom. Now as long as they don't freeze ... The snow is great moisture for the grass ... and the weeds!!

Here is a unique Easter bunny shot! My silly bunnies wouldn't pose for an Easter shot - this is the best one we got! I think the fact that there were three excited children chasing them around the porch didn't help! Did I mention that my bunnies love weeds - especially the dandelion variety! They got their first taste last week, as I found a 2 inch dandelion growing out of a crack in the sidewalk. I am carefully growing a few others. Last year, I had the great idea to dig out each dandelion for the bunnies (I had 4 bunnies then, and used a lot of dandelions). It was great - my yard looked better than it had in years ... until the dandelions ran out (poor bunnies)! My mother told me this year, just to trim the tops off, so I'd have dandelions for them all summer!! Yes, I know, most civilized people have a garden plot for human consumption - mine will be for bunnies!!!

Take care and stay warm!
